Quinte Symphony Joins With Organist William Maddox and the "King of Instruments”

Prepare for a unique and exciting Quinte Symphony event on Saturday, May 29, 7:30 p.m. at historic Bridge Street Church.
For its final MasterWorks concert of the 50th Season William Maddox at the Pipe Organ, Quinte Symphony showcases masterful organist William Maddox performing on Bridge Street Church’s fine pipe organ, built in 1956 by renowned organ builder Casavant Frères.
At this concert, William Maddox, a native of Prince Edward County, is reunited with the church he served for sixteen years as Organist and Master of the Choirs. He took up the position following university graduation in 1980. After almost two decades, Mr. Maddox is also reunited with Quinte Symphony having performed as a guest soloist with the orchestra in 1992.
Mr. Maddox earned his Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance at Queen’s University and the Licentiate and Fellowship levels from Trinity College of Music and Central Academy of Music in London, England. While at Bridge Street Church, he performed recitals throughout Ontario and New York, establishing himself as an organist of great distinction. Since 1996, Mr. Maddox has been Organist and Director of Music of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto. He is also Instructor of Organ, School of Music at Queen's University where many of his students achieve national scholarships and awards.
Colourful works featured at this MasterWorks concert include Widor’s Toccata from Symphony no.5, Albinoni’s Adagio in G minor for Strings and Organ, Jongen’s Symphonie Concertante and Burge’s Canadian Shield Overture.
